upgrade to ubuntu 18.4 lost scanner

Asked by Ronwyld

been running unbutu for a long time all was well till the latest version download 18.4, had problems understanding the set up, fine for geeks who are by nature technophiles but for us oldies it's not good, can't interrogate like the old system. Lost printers and scanner nightmare. Spent all day trying to find a solution by downloading new drivers to no avail...I am not a geek I AM A PERSON.

What is the make and model of the scanner? Why is this not in the original question...?

the computer is a Packard bell, I have 2 scanners and I think I have lost the Simple scan app from my side tool bar, as I opened the computer last evening it was there and a few moments later it was not. Have tried to download Simple scan but have been unsuccessful. My main scanner is a Epson perfection 1240U and the other I use rarely, is the scan option on a HP deskjet F2100.
Neither will now work although the HP printer is now working again. Sorry I omitted essencial detail but frustration does that to one.

Did you check the Epson website for scanner drivers? They do make packages for some of their products

I downloaded 'simple scan' this morning and all is well now. Thank you.
