After installing 18.04 my CPU overheating to 85c and shutting down during normal use

I noriced a CPU usage regulator in the system bar after submitting this question. I set it to "conservative" now it's working great. I don't know if it was there previously and I just noticed it or if someone put it there for me, but thanks.
