Musicmatch 8 in WINE

Asked by Hail Holy Ghost

I installed MusicMatch 8.0 in WINE and it works fine for a few weeks.

Then it updates itself (without my consent or knowledge) and says:

"The MUSICMATCH software has been updated. You must restart your computer before running Musicmatch Jukebox. Would you like to restart your computer now?"

I click on the "Restart Now" button and nothing happens. I restart the computer, try the application again, and get the same dialogue box again.

I tried deleting the MusicMatch Update folder and still nothing happened.

I tried removing and reinstalling Musicmatch (which had worked before) but WINE won't remove it this time.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well, I don't know much about Umbuntu yet, as I trying it out on my computer right now for the first time, however, I do know, that even on a Windows machine, MMJ doesn't work very well anymore and is no longer supported thanks to Yahoo MORONS ( the company ...not the subscribers) Bought the rights to MMJ about 4 years ago and about a year an a half ago, dis continued any support for it whatsoever!!! I wish ya luck in finding something that'll work as well as MMJ did, of course, since then, I have been using WinAmp, and have found that to be a good replacement...

Many thanks for your time! I'll give WinAmp a try the next time that MMJ craps out. I tried deleting the "Update" file, hopefully that will prevent it from attempting to "update" itself and thus fail to function.

Muchas Gracias
