I installed ibex in a Asus eeePc and I never got into troubles.... linux sees it as a normal disk ;)

Hello
i have a desktop and 2 laptops with slc ssd's. If the right model (sata / pata) are bought it reacts like a normal harddisc. I changed some things to reduce the stress.

Use the noop scheduler in grub/menu.lst
Use jfs as filesystem to reduce committing to disc
Set /tmp to a ramdisk, switch the firefox cache to it
Set another swappiness in rc.local

But thats all, a ssd with slc an 1mio possible writecycles per bit and good wear levelling will do the job many many years. A powerful slc will give a big performance, ibex was installed from usb2 stick within 8 minutes. The thinkpad bootup take 13sec from grub to login. But there are ugly and cheap mlc types on the market, with small lifecycle and boring performance.

Bye
Eric
