Unable to install Ubuntu 18.04 - ACPI Error

Asked by Sai Kishore

My laptop has Windows10. I created Ubuntu 18.04 bootable USB stick. I tried multiple times to install Ubuntu in my Acer laptop but gives "ACPI Error:Method/parse execution failed" error message.

I have formatted entire disk (removing Windows 10) and tried to install but I get the same message. I also updated BIOS and tried without luck. I can neither use option "Try Ubuntu without installing" nor "Install Ubuntu".

When I tried this USB stick with my desktop, it is working!

Can someone help me how I can fix it?

Following is the detailed error message:

You should check whether a BIOS update is available for your system.

What make and model is it?

I don't get your question. I have created Ubuntu USB Bootable stick. It gives 4 options - Try w/o installing , Install Ubuntu, OEM Install and Check Disk for errors. I tried all 3 options (other than OEM) and I get the same error.

When you boot from the installer stick, the first thing you see (for a short moment) should be two small icons at the bottom of the screen (a keyboard an a figure) https://i.stack.imgur.com/r2pHV.png
At that moment press any key, and you should get a menu where you can select special boot options.

Unfortunately, ACPI / power management option is not available in Aspiron BIOS.
