Minimalist Linux OS for my HP Netbook

Asked by Lin Rongxiang on 2018-08-10

My cousin handed me up a HP Mini Netbook that has all the keyboard buttons faulty and I managed to salvage it with an external keyboard and mouse. What I may be doing next is attaching big monitor to the VGA port and using the netbook as a desktop. Before I load Ubuntu OS onto it, I wish to ask whether is this the correct operating system and whether is there is a minimalist Linux OS that allows me to do simple tasks such as update and upgrade, surf the web and read some emails and even news?

Xubuntu or Lubuntu are aimed at low end systems and are fully supported by the Ubuntu community.

Ubuntu will do all those things and well. If your needs are that simple then I wouldn't personally spend money on a Windows license

Bodhi Linux has worked somewhat this far, thanks anyways.

Cool. Remember that Bodhi is not supported here or by the Ubuntu community. It's support and community are entirely separate from Ubuntu's.
