black-flickering screen after installing nvidia-384 repository

Hello, I have installed a ubuntu 16.04 on my new hard-drive. On the first boot up i entered the terminal, installed the ppa repository for nvidia, installed nvidia 384, then rebooted my desktop. When the hard drive boots i get a flickering black screen. I have tried accessing the terminal (ctrl+alt+(f1...f8)). This is the second hard drive i am attempting this on. Can somebody please help?

I suggest you remove the PPA and the driver it installed and reboot then use the one from the Ubuntu repository. Does that one work OK?
