Is there a way to change the threshold for WiFi signal strength (RSSI) for Ubuntu to look for another AP?

Asked by timothy j ryan on 2018-08-04

I have two APs in my house. I regularly find that my laptop connects to the base unit even though I'm much closer to the MAP. Turning off and on the wireless corrects this, but that is fairly annoying. My RSSI with the MAP is much better for the most part. I was wondering if there is a way get the network manager to reevaluate which AP to connect to.

I have the latest driver for my wireless card, best I can tell. It's actually a later revision than what's listed on the Intel site.
