800x600 resolution for NVIDIA geforce 7300

I'm very newbie at Linux, but anyhow installed Ubuntu 8.10 on a laptop. Everything works fine except the graphic. I just get 800x600 resolution
Googled and looked at nvidia.com homepage without any working solutions.

Think I've downloaded all Linux drivers from Nvidia, No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel, building kernels, unable to build the NVIDIA kernel module.
Also tried
$ sudo apt-get install envyng-qt
$ envyng -t

without any luck. It seems like Ubuntu doesn't recognize the graphic card?
So if anyone could help me with this?
