https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

Artful (Ubuntu 17.10) is end of life soon so you may want to upgrade to Bionic (Ubuntu 18.04 which is LTS and supported until April 2023). It may resolve your issue.

Hey Andrew i have the same problem even with the latest version of Ubuntu. Also Ubuntu 18.04 seems to have some problems running java that i need it so i do not upgrade to the latest version again.

For diagnostic purposes please follow https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WirelessTroubleshootingProcedure (at least as far as possible because of the freeze issue).

Can you help with this problem?
