Netflix has quit working

Asked by TaberKat

Netflix has quit working for me. Have been using it on Ubuntu 18.04 but now even after enabling DRM it still won't play. Listed answers don't seem to cover this issue. Finding newest Ubuntu version too quirky, had issues with getting VLC player to work also. Going back to Ubuntu 16.

What browsers have you tried?

Response to "What browsers have you tried". Answer is just Firefox. At Netflix I get Error Code F7701-1003. I have checked DRM rights (it was checked previously ). Also tried installing Flash player-no good. Netflix doesn't provide any help for Linux users nor can I find a way to install HTML5. Tried using Chromium but I get the same issue and zero help from them ; they seem to think everyone is on a phone, not a PC. What galls is that older Ubuntu works fine and without all this hassle. Firefox is version 60.0.2 which is why I wonder about Ubuntu 18.04 The answer is probably out there but I can't seem to find the right wording for my question , I guess. Didn't download Bionic Beaver, purchased the DVD, if that means anything. Lastly, please note that there are two Bugs numbered 670410. Not using multiple monitors.

Option I find in Ubuntu software is to install Chromium which I did. Going to Netflix from there and I still can't watch videos . Netflix says I need to install HTML5 but gives me NO help on how to do that. Chrome may fix the problem of watching Netflix, ( I haven't tried it yet ) but fails to solve the basic problem of why I can't watch Netflix on Firefox with Ubuntu 18 but it works just fine in Ubuntu 16. Something just seems wrong with that. Would like to think newer versions improve on things, not limit functions. Seems like there should at least be an answer to why. If I'm alone in this problem it certainly puzzles me. Do all Bionic Beaver fans use just Chrome? And why isn't Chromium working just as well?

Went directly to Chrome and installed. Yes, Netflix works fine so I guess you can say problem solved. Still puzzled why it won't work in Firefox but that's just me.
