hibernation of ubuntu mate 18.04

Asked by Fariborz Nassermostofi on 2018-06-12

i have a big problem trying sending my laptop in hibernate state. hibernation on my laptop works with ubuntu 16.04 using kernel 4.10.28.
whenever i update to kernel 4.13, hibernation don't work any more. I also was not able to use hibernation on later versions of ubuntu like 17.04 or later. with higher versions of ubuntu i am also not able to send my laptop in hibernation even with the mentioned kernel version "4.10"

by using the command systemctl hibernate the laptop does something and turns off. At the next startup it starts normally without resuming to the state of my session before hibernation.

So what's the problem? why it works only until ubuntu 16.04 and up to kernel version 4.10.28 and not after that??

could anyone help me please?

Then use the 4.10 kernel. You can use apt pinning to make the kernel not update.

thanks for the quick advise. but as i said that kernel works only on ubuntu 16.04. under ubuntu 18.04 even using that kernel, hibernate won't work.

I would like to understand why. what is the problem.

That answere is like of there is any problem with libre office then don't use it.
