UPGRADE via Live Disk

Asked by fdhealy4

I installed a new N network router and Ubuntu 8.10 can't see the network. When I run Jackalope Beta from a live disk it sees the network fine. Since I can't connect to the internet via 8.10 is there a way to UPGRADE 8.10 to 9.04 beta from the live disk without doing a clean install?

1. alt + f4
2. Then type, "update-manager -d" (without quotes)
Then select 9.04 upgrade at the top of the update manager that appears.

Hope that helps
Shane

Whoops I misread your question yes you can.
1. Put in the cd
2. go to software sources (system>administration>software sources)
3. go to the third party sources
4. select add cd
5. go to the update manager
6. hit upgrade

Hi Shane,

Seems pretty simple but when I go to the update manager there is no upgrade selection. I tried hitting the update button but that did nothing. The CD was added to the 3d party sources. Maybe I left something out.

I downloaded the "Alternate" format iso and burned to disk and the CD upgrade worked fine.
