Jaunty 64bit ext4, few issues im having: locking up, pulseaudio issue

Asked by MonsterDan

the most bothersome thing is that my whole laptop will lock up completely and ill have to do a hard reboot. my main concern with this really is this a known problem or should i frequently back up my data to prepare for a hardware failure? its completely random, havent been able to recreate it at all, never doing anything specific when it happens. also is there a crash dump file somewhere that may give more info?

also pulseaudio doesnt seem to work every time i reboot and ive seen alot of people say pulseaudio is completely working with jaunty right out of the box but of course not for me lol. it seems to fix itself if i do "pulseaudio -k ; start-pulseaudio-x11" but also amarok seems to depend on it too so if i do that i cant use amarok, and amarok works before hand and the system sounds dont.

thanks for any help,
Dan

Ext4 isnt tested yet in ubuntu and still has problems. Also jaunty is only beta many problems still arent fixed. If you need a stable system then stick with the stable releases. Pulse audio in 64 bit has been giving trouble in jaunty since alpha, its a known issue and they are trying to fix it before release.

ok i thought so. i was just curious because some of my other friends arent having these problems. the person that said pulseaudio works out of the box for jaunty must have been only talking about 32 bit.
