sata disk not found in intel D975XBX2 Motherboard
I have an INTEL D975XBX2 motherboard, I have 3 Disk SATA2 (2 disk HITACHI of 250 GB With Windows XP in RAID1 and 1 disk of 80 GB with Linux)connect in the SATA connector of the intel and another Disk SATA1 (Maxtor 6y160M0 of 160 GB) connect in the SECONDARY SATA controller of the motherboard (MARVELL SATA).
Both SATA controllers are integrated in the motherboard.
The bios see the 4 disks, and Windows XP too, but UBUNTU don see the disk Maxtor connect in the MARVELL SATA.
The lspci is:

Many people have this exact problem. I believe that the support for the Marvell SATA controller on the 975XBX2 (88SE6145) in libata is highly experimental. I cannot get mine to work either. The Marvell BIOS sees the drives, Linux sees the PCI controller, but the driver doesn't seem to detect it. I compiled the 2.6.22.rc2 kernel to get the latest libata code from Jeff Garzik's git branch, but I am still having no success. In fact, when the kernel loaded, it thought it saw PATA controllers because it loaded the pata_marvell driver and not the sata_mv driver.
I'm not a kernel wizard, though, and I may have fsck'ed something up when I built the kernel. Whatever it is, I am still trying to get it to work. If I do, I will post the solution, but I suspect that we might have to set the BIOS to run all the SATA drives in legacy mode (have not tried that yet). I am not keen on doing that, though, because I will lose the more advanced SATA features that I really want.

Have the identical problem on the 975XBX2 board. The drives were seen in the 9.xx release - I upgraded from there - and the drives disappeared.
I see that this question is listed as answered - and that makes sense - it is not resolved in my opinion. Is there an open bug on this - or does one need to be opened?

As of 2010 09 08 and on 10.04 I have not been able to resolve this problem. It was not a problem with 9.xx. I have done nothing different - and spent far too much time researching the issue with no success. If there is a solution that is doable for a dedicated keyboarder - but not at all technical - I need to see it soon.
Can you help with this problem?
