What WiFi chip are you using?
Which release of Ubuntu?
Have you used a wired connection to get full updates and use the additional drivers application to, maybe, install drivers?

lspci gave the following results

01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 15)
02:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Limited BCM43228 802.11a/b/g/n

i am using ubuntu 18.04 lts
I have used a wired internet to get full updates. However i have not used the additional drivers application to install drivers. It would be great if you showed me how to. Thank you in advance.
