18.04 AMD radeon driver/catalyst required!
I am a noob and just installed Ubuntu 18.04. I would love to get my AMD Radeon HD6850 to run my 3 monitors with EyeInfinity but cannot work out how to find and install drivers that might work. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
mem is 15.6 GB, Intel i7-2600 @ 3.4GHz x8, Gnome 3.28.1, OS 64bit
Thanks.

Have you used the additional drivers application in settings?

Hi, additional drivers are in 'software and updates' and there are no
additional drivers available. All updates have been applied. I don't see
anything regarding drivers in 'settings'. Thanks for getting back to me.

sudo apt-get install linux-headers-
sudo apt-get install fglrx-updates
sudo amdconfig --initial
sudo reboot
Should do it.

Replying to the automated email and attaching a file doesn't work.
You need to use a service like imageshack or Dropbox to make a URL of the image and post the image as an update.

Hi, I read everything in the link, mind you some of it was challenging as I
am a noob at this. I installed Ubuntu as I am sick of MS consonantly
updating and actually screwed my system up. Nevertheless, I ran the code as
per instructions and did some more research and tried a few other things as
well. Do you think that it will 100% work? or perhaps just worth a try. Do
you need any more details from me? I appreciate your assistance. I am after
getting the three monitors to work on the AMD Radeon HD6850 card. The
active port will not activate. I really want the EyeInfinity to work again,
I want my 3 monitors! lol.

hmmm. I can advise then in summary..
linux headers update worked
reports all as newest version
unable to locate package for fglrx-updates
the sudo amdconfig --initial command not found.
I also tried to install a .run of a file I got, it stared well but then
said that ..... not supported and ceased to run further.
Cheers,

Great news! I now have the three monitors working but the monitor on the
active port is registered as a 'unknown monitor' and is only at resolution
1024 and not 1920 like the other two. I have restarted of course and there
is no option to specify.
Thanks

What output do you receive for the command (to be executed in a terminal window)
xrandr

Hi, it started to run and install then reported that ...was not supported.
I can't remember exactly. However, I do have all three screens working now
but it is not really stable and reliable. I had this same issue in Windows.
Sometimes it will not identify the monitor and therefore I get a lower
resolution. I can live with that. If I pull out the monitor all the screens
will go blank then I reinsert and I can usually get the 3rd monitor to
work. Overall I am happy and appreciate the assistance I have been given. :)

If you do not expect additional help on this issue, then you should mark this question document as "solved".
