karma points leapt?

Asked by Tom

My computer just threw a tantrum and i had to reboot. When i got back into launchpad my karma points had leapt up by 20,000! Last night i seemed to get 10,000 where i normally get about 2,000 for a day like yesterday.

Also i seem to have got karma points that were really earned by other people. I just happened to make the last comment in a question and ended up getting the karma points somewhat unfairly. Can i redistribute those points to the people that earned them?

It's unclear what karma points are actually for but if they are just a fun indicator then they work very well. Many people clearly deserve a lot more.

Anyway, i was just wondering really.
Thanks and regards from
Tom :)

I don't think the karma points are particularly serious - I don't think about them very much. But you can check what you were awarded points for by clicking on the "karma" link from your profile page.

I'm pretty sure it's not possible to redistribute them.

Ah these things happen you have been answering a lot of questions so maybe you werent awarded some for a previous day or maybe you "solved" more questions than you normally would. Its not a big deal.
