Revert to previous version

Asked by Sam Jackson

I am running Ubuntu 17.04 on my laptop in a dual boot with Windows 10. My laptop initially just came with Windows, but I later added Ubuntu 16.04 and later upgraded. The problem is, since I added Ubuntu, I've since added some packages (cosmetic things like desktop themes), which I think are preventing me from being able to update my software, and more important, I can't stay connected to WiFi while running Ubuntu. It doesn't matter where I am or what service I use, WiFi will just regularly drop out. It doesn't happen when I'm using Windows.

My question is, Is there some way I can revert to my original install of Ubuntu 16.04, when I didn't have these problems? I haven't done a system backup, so I don't have a snapshot to use. Otherwise, do I need to just reinstall the whole system?

You will need to reinstall to go back to 16.04

If you do reinstall then you may as well install Ubuntu 18.04 and get the latest LTS release.

Can you help with this problem?
