Installation of Hindi fonts, incomplete character set

I installed UBUNTU 8.04 and also installed ttf hindi fonts from LEAP OFFICE package. Files created in leap office is getting opened in Open office but some of the hindi characters are not properly displayed. This is making my progress halt, unless I rectify this problem, I cannot go further as most of my work involves bilingual test i.e., both Hindi and English. Please guide me how to get complete characters set in hindi fonts, Particularly that of leap office as I have too many files created in leap office needs to be ported to open office.

try this
$ sudo apt-get install ttf-indic-fonts
