Dear Administrator,

please remove the first message in this page that begin with the words: "Very thanks, Craig, you were very nice. But I didn't to resolve the problem.".

Please remove the first one not the second one.

Thanks.

PS: Launchpad does not allow you to make mistake? What if for some reason I mistakenly insert some personal information that is not advisable to become public?

Hmmm, it's tricky. you can edit the original question and the title, check up on the top right hand side. At one point Lauchpad seemed to be carefully removing anything that looked like someones email address but really we have to hope that users are a bit more computer savvy than to post stuff that's too personal. I noticed one chap give an order number so quickly warned him that this is an open forum, but without further details that number would have been useless to anyone anyway. I've been here about 4 months and not seen anyone being indiscrete so far but i only read small sample of question, ie ones that i think i can ansewr or about issues i need help with myself.

Usually you just have to give people the benefit of the doubt and realise that typos and non-native english speakers are bound to be around a lot. i think people are mostly very forgiving in here.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

I can edit the question but I can't edit the answer. Why you can edit the question and not the answers or replies?

What if I'm doing e-shopping having also https://answers.launchpad.net/ open. I'm copying and pasting my credit card number in the e-shop form, then suddenly my cat jump on my keyboard and the my credit card number is pasted in a answers.launchpad.net and the form is submmitted?

What if I'm reporting a long log file excerpt with personal informations (like MAC addresses or passwords) and after removing almost all sensible informations and submitting the reply I realized that I missed the remove a single important personal information?

Websites like stackoverflow.com allow you delete a reply for any reason without delay. Other sites wait some minutes before copying replies across the network (through mails) for decrease the information leak in case that the user changed his/her mind and decide to remove his/her post.

You should report this on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ and explain that Answers (not only the initial submission) but supplemental: Answers, Information Requests, and Comments should be editable for a certain period of time. I think it's a valid concern.

Sincerely,

Craig

Please see related bug 358017
I think the time-limit factor neatly addresses my concerns about this issue
Thanks Craig :)
