Shutter built-in editor requires libgoo-canvas-perl; no install candidate

Asked by Ron Bentley

I use Shutter in 16.04 to take snapshots and do light, fast editing. In 18.04 Shutter installs and runs with no problem. (Xubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 if that matters.)

However, the built-in editor button is grayed out in 18.04. When I hover over it, it says "Goo::canvas/libgoo-canvas-perl needs to be installed for this feature." I can't find any such package for 18.04, although I do have it installed on 16.04.

Has anyone else encountered this? Should I submit a bug report? Or is there a different package I should be moving on to?

libgoocanvas2-perl was mentioned as replacement, but i do not know whether shutter can work with that package.

Thanks for the link. It was easy enough to test. I installed libgoocanvas2-perl, restarted Shutter and the built-in editor button is still grayed out.

I guess I'll take it over to the developer here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/shutter

I submitted the bug report for Shutter:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/shutter/+bug/1765835

I was pointed to an existing bug report on libgoo-canvas-perl:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgoo-canvas-perl/+bug/1765726

It looks like that feature is just not available in Shutter for now.

Can you help with this problem?
