Urgent: Problem with Deja-dup

Hi, I am trying to create a backup with deja-dup but I get this error: "Failed to execute child process ("Duplicity") (No such file or directory) "

I tried to install duplicity but I get this error: "The following packages have unfulfilled dependencies:
  duplicity: Depends: librsync1 (> = 0.9.6) but will not be installed
              It depends: python-lockfile (> 1: 0.9) but it will not be installed
  google-chrome-stable: It depends: libappindicator1 but it will not be installed
E: Unfulfilled dependencies. Try "apt-get -f install" without packages (or specify a solution)."

I am new in ubuntu. By the way, I have ubuntu 16.10

Do you really have Ubuntu 16.10? This release is not supported any more, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

For diagnostic purposes please provide the output of the commands

uname -a
lsb_release -crid
sudo apt-get update
sudo dpkg --audit
apt-cache policy duplicity librsync1 python-lockfile google-chrome-stable libappindicator1

Why would you want to backup a dead distribution?

I suggest you wipe the install off and do a clean install of Bionic. Bionic is prerelease presently but is due for release in 9 days. Bionic is LTS and supported until April 2023.

Make a copy of the data you need to a removable storage or cloud storage before you start and you can restore it to the new installation once completed.

1) Manfred Hampl (m-hampl): I tried to update my ubuntu version but it asked me: "We recommend that you backup your existing Ubuntu installation before you update your computer."

So, my question now is: Do I have to update my ubuntu version first for a solution?

By the way, when I get a message telling me there are updates, I clicked on "update" but after that I get an error (I don'r remember what it says) and I cannot update anything.

Ubuntu 16.10 entered "end of life" status almost a year ago (July 20, 2017 ), why didn't you try upgrading to the next release before that date (or shortly after)?
Event the Ubuntu release that follows (17.04) is not supported any more.
This makes upgrading much more complicated now.

Do you have much private data that you want to keep? Maybe you do not need a full backup, but can copy the files to n USB stick instead?
