jason valentin; Hello -

Disconcerting situation for sure!
Let's see what we can do - maybe just a graphic's driver issue ?
At the grub menu with a latest kernel selected as boot press the 'e' key for edit mode .
This brings up the boot parameter screen, here arrow down to the line starting with linux, arrow over to quiet splash and replace both these terms with the term nomodeset. key combo ctl+x to continue the boot process .

What results ?

-got to be a way-
