causes of keyboard malfunction

Certain keys on my keyboard are not functioning, there are the enter eky, the righ shift key and the up and down arrow keys

Are these on a laptop keyboard? If so, what make and model?
If it's a USB keyboard have you tried a different keyboard? I'd it the same?
What is the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a

It helps if you tell us about the system, relevant hardware and Ubuntu release. We need that information
