Newbie. deleted partition in 16.04 LTS. cannot boot . get error "no such partition" . how do i restore partition or format drive? Please and Thanks.

i deleted a partition (my big bad) and my Dell laptop will not boot. i get "error: no such partition." and the grub rescue prompt. how can i restore the partition, or format the hdd? i have tried Gparted Live, Yumi, and reinstalling os from a usb drive. Please help.

How many partitions were there?
Which one did you delete? What were the contents?

Maybe the fastest way to recover is a new installation, and then restoring the data from the backups.

Thanks for looking/replying. I tried the Yumi Live a third time, and it worked. Problem solved.
