unable to open /var/lib/sudo/username/tty1:

Asked by michael

Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit stopped working. HP dc5800 and checked ram.

unable to open /var/lib/sudo/username/tty1:

No directory, logging in with HOME=1

an error occurred while mounting /

CONTROL - D will terminate this shell and reboot system

These errors occur on start up. I have tried older kernels, also safe mode, etc.

any ideas

Have you tried booting to Ubuntu live CD desktop and running a full fsck on all Linux partitions. This may help
