Is automatic security updates for desktop-users available.

Asked by Torbjörn Hed

In Software sources, under the updates tab.

Under security updates, there is an option of automatically installing security updates without confirmation.

I really like this option. But does this also work for "desktop-users" that dont have any administrative priviliges assigned to them?

Basically, I have one administrative account that I use only for installing new software and other admin tasks, and then I have created a desktop user account with no administrative rights that I use for my everyday computerneeds for a higher level of security. It would be really nice not having to log into my adminstrative useraccount just to check if any security updates needs to be done.

Hello !

If the master of the system (i.e. root ... it's you when you type 'sudo' or enter your password for administrative tasks) has told that security updates should be installed automatically, then it will be done this way (root is _god_ ;))

so you don't have to worry : if you set it that way, it will be done that way ;)

hope this helps !

Regards,
Benoît
