samba search over lan for file type

Asked by hormosapiens

how can I search for files over lan. I have ubuntu feisty. I have installed samba and im able to share files with others on lan network. I can pull files from others and others can pull files from me.
I just want to do a general search over lan for files by type name, like in windows xp, where you give option video file or text or music files and it search all lan network. cause it takes to llong to search each single machine on lan.

I used mainmenu/places/search for files but it seems that i can't give the right address to search for files over lan, and not in my pc.
ubuntu 7.04, gnome 2.18, kernel 2.6.20, locale english atix1300 fglrx

thank you.

Thanks for your question, open a nautilus and in a bar address (where is indicate you directory position /home/adi/....) write smb:// and the domain name of your network. Do return and after you are able to see your network lan.

Thanks
