mac book pro

I have a mac book pro with no OS on it. i would like to put ubuntu on it. How and what do i need to do to make this happen?

It's just an overpriced PC. Nothing special. Grab the 64bit ISO of Ubuntu Xenial (16.04 LTS), MD5 test it (unless you use torrents) transfer it to a USB stick using Unetbootin or burn to a CD as slowly as possible then put it in the Mac and boot it from the new media.

Personally I'd download Bionic which is Ubuntu 18.04 and also LTS. It is prerelease at the moment but released next month. You will upgrade to the stable version through normal updates. You can upgrade from Xenial directly to Bionic on release day too but using Bionic removes this requirement
