Then i shutdowned and opened micrisoft windows xp professional --- my computer --- i was shocked by seeing that my HD space was reduced to half ... i don't know how it happened ...

After i restarted my PC it shows that there is no boot ...

You cannot boot anything from your hard disk at the moment? Only from CD? Is that what you are saying?

First, install Windows. And then install Ubuntu. Use the following link: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/dualboot.

Hope it helps.

He doesn't want to reinstall Windows, because he'll lose all his Windows data this way.
As far as I understand, he can no longer boot WIndows. So the best solution would probably to just install GRUB, which defaults to the Windows boot. The next step would then be to resize the Windows partition again to occupy the whole space, or at least create a second NTFS partition he can use.
I'm no expert in gparted/grub, so could somebody tell him what to do exactly?

Well, first of all he does not provide info when asked. And secondly, that guy also asked the Tennis question, so I'm not sure if he's serious.
