when PXE-boot into Ubuntu 17.10 LiveDVD, name server is not found

Asked by beta-tester

i have setup a PXE server, where i provide an Ubuntu 17.10 LiveDVD image i can PXE boot a PC client into it.
see project of the PXE server:
https://github.com/beta-tester/RPi-PXE-Server

but the client that is PXE booted into Ubuntu 17.10 LiveDVD isn't able to resolve internet addesses.
"ping 91.189.94.40" is working, but "ping ubuntu.com" isn't.
i have to change the nameserver entry in /etc/resolve.conf on the client to e.g. 8.8.8.8 or to my local routers ip to be able to resolve internet addresses.

i have not that problem, when i PXE boot into Ubuntu 16.04.03 LTS LiveDVD in the same way as Ubuntu 17.10.
also it is not a problem when i boot Ubuntu 17.10 LiveDVD from a physical DVD.

so something must be going wrong with the networksettings specially on Ubuntu 17.10 during PXE boot
EDIT: also an issue in Ubuntu 17.10.1 LiveDVD and Ubuntu 18.04 daily LiveDVD (2018-01-28)

Are there any bugs reported? You could install 16.04 then upgrade immediately to 18.04

i don'T know, if it was already reported as bug.
it is an issue only on LiveDVD, when i run it "live".
when i then install ubuntu from that Live environment, then the installed ubuntu has "manual" under network settings. there i have to change it to "dhcp". but that was already with 16.04 the case, but with 17.10 and 18.04(daily), the resolve issue under the liveDVD environment is new,
