When you use sudo you will not get a visual feedback as you type your message. Do you mean this or does the keyboard input never work?

Sorry for the delay. I am very sick (terminally) .. I am hacked so bad. I have reinstalled ubuntu again. I am new to linux and hoped it would be different than windows as far as security goes. My Internet host is not secure and many warnings about the NSA on my device.... Our whole house is hacked since 2016.
Thanks for the help offer.

Now I am missing these things.... After I backup it says.... Backup couldn't backup these
/home/..name../.cache/dconf
/home/..name../.config/enchant
/home/..name../.gvfs
make sure you can open them.
They are missing... :(
are they important?
Also I just lost Firefox and to reinstall it said I must accept untrusted devices...
I already accept that in updates so why? Also usually there is a details to check but not any longer. When I first boot it is trying to load swap but I installed this to a cleaned hard drive. Then after I skip it and log in it has a popup wanting to report my system but no detail button, just send.....
The wolves have entered into Linux.....
