Problem with all new installation of ubuntu when keyboard is not US and using full encrypted disks
Trying to accomplish:
- new Ubuntu installation (I've tried with 17.10, daily 18.04 [latest tried was 2018-01-01], server and desktop)
- using English and a Swedish keyboard / or just trying to install it as Swedish (including Swedish keyboard)
- using full disk encryption and characters not in the US keyboard
Problem:
After the installation is completed and the machine is rebooted the user should enter the password for the full disk encryption.
The problem is that the keyboard is set to US, so it is impossible to enter the password.
This is even true when installing it as language Swedish.
More problems:
- Another issue I encountered in the installation is that it will not allow me to set the keyboard.
Example: if I try to install language = English, I can't select a Swedish keyboard (server installation). I try to go back on the menu but it jumps direct to disk partition using some default value which is not clear.
- 18.04 Desktop, the installation doesn't work at all. It doesn't even start ... it just hangs...
I run TRY Ubuntu, set the keyboard = Swedish and clicked start installation...
No errors reported. The screen still functional and I'm able to start other programs but the installation just hungs ...
I try to report as a BUG but I do not have a working linux to be able to report using the reporting tools... and I can't find a way on launchpad, it sends me to the help page :-/
