Ubuntu VM timeout with custom interface no VMware Fusion

Asked by Tam Kam Kit on 2017-12-07

I am trying to connect a Ubuntu VM on GNS3 topology, it needs to use a custom interface (vmnet) as the adaptor type, it always get a timeout on the job to "raise network interfaces", the VM work fine if the adaptor type is NAT, Bridge or host-only,.
I tried not connect the VM to GNS3 and choose "custom interface", it will timeout too, seems is not GNS3 issue, can anyone give me some advise?

Are there any bugs reported?
Which release of Ubuntu are you using?
Do other distributions of Linux (not based on Ubuntu or Debian) work OK?

I am using Ubuntu Server 16.04.3 LTS to setup the VM, I install it for my Linux classes, the teacher use the same version as me and is working on his Mac.
