Trackpad not listed in libinput list-devices for Lenovo ideapad 320 ubuntu 17.10 kernel version 4.13.0-17-generic

Asked by Richard Detsch on 2017-12-03

I cannot find my TouchPad listed when I run the command:
sudo libinput list-devices

This is a new Lenovo ideapad 320 15IKB-Touch with Intel Core i5-8250U CPU
Ubuntu Version 17.10
Kernel Version 4.13.0-17-generic

I installed Ubuntu from a bootable USB created on my mac using the UNetbootin application from the ubuntu-17.10-desktop-amd64.iso iso file.

What can I do, do I have to replace the kernel or build my own kernel?

Fixed the problem by upgrading the kernel to the latest stable version using the ( sudo ukuu-gtk ) gui. I had to run this as root.

(A) How to install and run the ukuu gui to install the latest stable version of the kernel.

(B) How to run a GUI as root

(C) The kernel version that works!!!!
$ uname -a
