Problem with VLC and standard video player in Ubvuntu

Asked by davidzaq1

Hellom

I have Ubuntu 16.04 on a Dell 1500 Vostro.

I have been trying to play videos using VLC and the standard video player which is installed.
For some reason, the video glitches, kind so stops, then moves a little and the stops again. The graphics get distorted
and looks a little strange.
The strange thing is that the sound plays as though the video is running with no problem

I am just wondering what the problem could be and how to fix it.

Thank you.

Have you tried a different video output method in VLC settings

No, I did not know about them. If I looked at them, I would not know which one to use.
Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you.
