Wayland doesn't work with Java GUI apps

Asked by Sergio Bossa on 2017-11-13

I'm running Ubuntu 17.10 with Wayland enabled. I noticed Java GUI apps running with native look and feel (either Swing or AWT based) do not properly work, i.e. fonts are not displayed properly, windows sometimes do not draw correctly and other problems.

Is it a known issue?

Which Java are you using?

Sergio Bossa (sbtourist) said : #2

Here it is:
java version "1.8.0_152"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_152-b16)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.152-b16, mixed mode)

If you use Oracle Java is it any better?

I'm not a Java user but can suggest intelligent things to try

I am already using the official Oracle java. Should I file an Ubuntu bug report?

Makes sense to me, yes

Thanks, I can't find a "wayland" component, should I just file under "xorg"?

That's fine. The bug guys can move it if required

Can you help with this problem?
