To include the Cd in the Package Manager's searches simply go up to the top taskbar and click on

System - Administration - Synaptic Package Manager

it asks for your normal user password, not your SuperUser/Root one. Click on the "Settings" menu and then on "Repositories". In the pop-up gui click on the second tab that says "Third Party Software" and tick the one that says Cd. Now close the gui and click on refresh in Synaptic Package Manager.

You should now be able to use the search button to look for the programs you want to install, the search tool looks in descriptions as well as titles. Packages that are already installed have a green splodge beside them. To install something right-click on it and select "install" then click on "Apply".

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

If the Cd is in the tray perhaps the option appears? I might have got the wrong tab.

The refresh button is in about the same place it would be if Synaptic were a web-browser. It's blue in Ubuntu - i guess it would be blue in Kubuntu or Xubuntu too. Ahhh, it's a circle arrow and actually says "Reload" in the english version.

Can you help with this problem?
