Ubuntu 17.10 Display flickering

Asked by ChrisCamp

Hello,

I tested the new Ubuntu 17.10-Release in a VirtualBox Environment.

Unfortunately, the display is flickering, especially when I try to open new programs/apps.

Is this a known bug?

Hardware: MacBook Air
OS: MacOS Sierra
Virtual Evironment: Virtualbox (current release).

This is a bug that is specific to this version of Ubuntu.
I tested and use Ubuntu 17.04 with Unity and Ubuntu Mate 17.10 in exactly the same setting and they work fine.

regards,

Chris

Did you install the guest additions?

Hello. No, I installed the proper standard ISO which I downloaded from ubuntu.com a few days ago.

I can try to install the guest-addition-ISO.

Nevertheless, for the other two Ubuntu-Versions, the official ISO worked fine out of the box.

It will add better video drivers and may help. I also suggest a non-compoziting session like XFCE or LXQT. These will also cause the guest OS to impact the host less.

Can you help with this problem?
