sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-installer

Close all browsers and then reopen. You can test at:

I have Java installed. But it s not in the browser.

I have been told though that Mozilla is no longer supporting Java in Firefox 52 and later.

If this is true, is there a problem with not having java in the browser?

Thank you.

Do you use websites that need Java?

I really do not know if they require Java.
I just assumed Firefox was crashing tabs because it was missing java plugins.
I got this information from reading forums.

If you don't need java then don't add it to your browser. Fewer addons gives a smoother experience

problem is solved. I don't know what happened either through an updater or what ever but it is not crashing any longer.

Thank you.
