Ubuntu Gnome 17.10

Asked by Emiliano Meilan

Yesterday I updated Ubuntu Gnome 17.04 to 17.10 but when reboot the system the graphic card didn't work well.
In the middle of the system init the monitor starts to blink and never wake up gnome login, it doesn't errors show.
If I power on the pc without the graphic card (only onboard) then the problem doesn't happen.

I tried to update the drivers in tty2 but the problem persist.

Details:

GNOME: 3.26.1

Ubuntu: 17.10

Graphic card: xfx r7260x ghost terminal technology.

I will continue to seek a solution.

Thanks in advance.
Regards.

Did you install the proprietary video driver in 17.04?

Hello Andrew.

Really, I installed Ubuntu Gnome 17.04 with the graphic card inserted, so Ubuntu took the necessary driver for it.

Thanks a lot.

Did you run the additional driver application or be offered to install the driver?

Yes, I updated the driver(It said "the driver is the last" or something like that), then i uninstalled and re-install the same driver but the issue persist.

Is it possible come back to 17.04 without format?

No. To go back to the older release it's a reinstall.

It is rare that proprietary drivers work after distribution upgrades. I suggest you uninstall the driver then reboot. You can then reinstall the driver.

I found the problem, Ubuntu 17.10 doesn't support a lot drivers of graphics card, in the future it will does.

Thanks a lot for your time.
