I have a small problem. How do I save downloads in my Download file? Now everything is saved to my desktop. Sorry, I'm sure this is a simple solution but I'm relatively new to Linux and haven't been able to figure it out on my own.

You would like to download some files with the web browser?
Ok, that's not an Linux related question, because this is a setting in the browser directly. Ubuntu uses Firefox as the default web browser.

1) Open the browser with the menu "Applications -> Internet -> Firefox Web Browser"
2) In the browser menu open "Edit -> Preferences"
3) Choose the "General" options
4) There you can see the options for the Downloads section
5) change the option for "Save files to" to your needs
