stopped printer

hp 8710 office jet was installed and working. After i did a ubuntu 16.04 upgrade the printer stopping working - only prints test pages.
printer status: stopped - File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups" not available: No such file or directory
                            Stopped - File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups" not available: No such file or directory
How do I get the printer to start working again?

Try:

sudo apt-get --reinstall install hplip

Power off the printer and remove it from the Ubuntu configuration.

Reboot and log in and power on the printer and try a new print
