April Fool-virus in New Zealand?

Asked by NakiMum

This was on a new website that I regularly use. Just want to know if it will have any impact on me as I don't run windows, I'm now hooked on Ubuntu/Kubuntu.

An April Fool's Day virus is about to hit New Zealand computers.

It is stage two of one of the most destructive computer worms ever known - a conficker worm dubbed the "cyberworm of mass destruction".

Domain name commissioner Debbie Monaghan says measures have been put in place to try to counter it, but she is issuing a warning

to all computer users both at home and in the workplace. She says it is imperative that everyone download the latest "windows" update to make sure you are protected.

Thanks in advance

Let's hope it attacks windows only.

Better safe than sorry though - that's why I asked. I've been running Ubuntu since end 2008 and haven't had any virus, etc problems yet. That's what's so great about Ubuntu.

Thanks for taking time to reply. This is the only way I'll learn.

Cheers
