hp laserjet P1102w prints to nowhere?

Asked by christian stallings

I had different problem several months ago with my printer not being recognized after I deleted it because it didn't print. That problem was resolved by running "hplip-3.17.6run".

Now the problem was that the print job was being "held". I messed around on my own (don't know what I'm doing; newbi from windows) deleting printer and readding it with original driver for the P1102w and now it prints to nowhere, i.e. printer never receives the job but the que clears and print job is not held?

I tried running "hplip-3.17.6run" again to no avail.

I can add the printer but if I delete it and reboot, system doesn't automatically recognize printer and in either case I can't print?

Help please. Thanks you.

Hello,

Next time before trying to delete the printer, I think you should check the jobs queue:

- Launch "HP Device Manager"
- Select the "Printer Control" tab
- Check the queue status, if it's stopped you have a button "Start/Stop Printer"

That's because sometimes the queue does not start, for instance if you try to print before turning the printer on, or if you print from a second computer using the wi-fi.

For the current problem, I think that maybe it would help to check with synaptic if the hplip package is not corrupted: Launch synaptic, type hplip in the search filter, select "broken packages" on the left side of the screen.

Good luck
Enrico

Christian
Please read this site, it will explain how to get the information.

https://askubuntu.com/questions/38162/what-is-a-terminal-and-how-do-i-open-and-use-it

Use the keyboard shortcut by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T. Is the simple way to open the terminal. COPY and PASTE the command Actionparsnip wants. COPY and PASTE the complete results back here. The copy and paste prevents miss typing commands.

also mr. parsnip, when i add my printer manually, it's a "network"
printer. My printer is connected via usb cable (not sure if that means
"network"?).
