Xubuntu error after power failure/battery recharging...
" /dev/sda6: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY. (Ie., without -a or -p options) fsck exited with status code 4 The root filesystem on /dev/sda6 requires a manual fsck BusyBox v1.22.1 (Ubuntu 1:1.22.0-19ubuntu2) built in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. (Initramfs) fsck fsck from util-linux 2.29 (initramfs) "flashing cursor'.... Type help and get list that leaves me confused of what to do to restore my system... Gateway laptop intel core i3 500GB Hard-Drive.... Also tried booting from usb but no Luck.... Can you direct me to a way to resolve this without losing everything in my system? You have to boot on Ubuntu installer kit on DVD or bootable USB stick in the "Try Ubuntu without installing" mode.
Then open a command terminal and issue the command

sudo fsck /dev/sda6

Hello thank you Manfred for your prompt reply/work-around... Well i did eactly what you recommended also tapping f2 as well after choosing that option 1st from dropdown menu... Executed Terminal and then I got this... xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ sudo fsck /dev/sda6 fsck from util-linux 2.27.1e2fsck 1.42.13 (17-May-2015) fsck.ext2: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/sda6 Possibly non-existent device? xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ .... Note* this is the very first time i have had any issues with xubuntu whatsoever barring some sound/streaming complicated difficulties w/ Pavucontrol/Alsamixer, etc... "Streaming" into virtual worlds mainly SecondLife.com and KrueTV Facebook Youtube etc... LIVE Guitar many waiting on me to resolve these issues as patiently as they can... Thank You again <3

The first steps look fully correct, but probably the naming / numbering of the partitions has changed because of booting from an installer.
What is the output of the command

sudo fdisk -l

Try identifying the line that says something like "Linux" and then use this device name in the fsck command.
