Problem Adding Gmail account in Thunderbird 45.8.0 under ubuntu 17.10 with gnome 3.24.3

Hello,
How can I add gmail account Thunderbird 45.8.0 under ubuntu 17.10 with gnome 3.24.3?
It doesn't advance from verification step. I enter gmail username and password but after I click next nothing shows.
Please help!

Ubuntu 17.10 is in development and not yet published for general usage.
Only persons who want to help in its development (by creating adequate bug reports) should use it.

For everyone else the recommendation is to use either the latest LTS version (16.04) or the current short-term version 17.04.

Thank you Manfred Hampl (m-hampl) for pointing this out. I have forgot to mention it that Ubuntu 17.10 it's not released yet. I am using Ubuntu from Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS (Lucid Lynx). I have installed and tried all releases, beta releases, daily developer builds (on different desktop configurations).
Ubuntu 17.10 runs smoothly on my configuration. Better than 16.04 LTS, better than 17.04. I would not go back just because there is a problem with thunderbird.
I am a huge fan. I am not a developer to help the community, but I would like to help by asking for answers when I find problems that other user could have with final release.
I have this question as final user to help the team identify the problems that may occur before launching the final beta and the final version.
Anyway the problem with connecting to gmail from thunderbird was not with earlier versions of ubuntu. Please consider solving this issue.

If you run:

ubuntu-bug thunderbird

You can report the bug. Artful is not ready and not stable.

There is already a never version 1:52.2.1+build1-0ubuntu1 in artful-proposed.
Maybe your problem is already solved there.

Again, Artful is prerelease and not stable or ready. It is for people who don't mind a half built OS and want to submit bug reports to get the OS ready for release in October.

If you want an OS that works as you expect then I suggest you wipe the install off and do a clean install of Xenial. Xenial is LTS and supported til April 2021.

Hello actionparsnip (andrew-woodhead666) . I don't mind when things don't get well. Actually i like to find them and help the team prepare the best OS. I like my Ubuntu each version of it. I like to help during the pre-release phase if I find another problems with my reports. Thank you all!
