delete huge amount of file freezes my computer - xenial

Asked by Paco Raxim

The main problem with the Trash, that nautilus is not that fast, if we have hundreds of files in a folder.
On this issue as it does exist in the past 3-4 years at least, i would change to Windows even if i miss some benefit using linux seriously.

I) To open a folder:

1, It wants to display thumbnails etc. (but i'm not sure why they want to process all at the background, as it's freezes if i want to open that folder)
2, i'm using total commander in wine instead, but jumping back and forth, as i cannot use the clipboard to move over file by mouse from total commander in wine.

II) To delete huge amount of files inside the folder with ctrl+A

Nautilus wants to show every steps, when i want to delete all of them, which shouldn't be the case.

1, It's updating the window beneath the progress bar in every second so it's freezing up my machine.
2, It's trying to count all the files before delete (which takes sometimes 5-10 minutes on 1000 files also, you can just kill the never ending process), just for the progress bar sake. (Total commander is more efficient on this - i'm not sure why)

III) To delete huge amount of files by deleting the folder

II/2 is happening.
3, gvfs (with nautilus - even nautilus is closed and not up and running - it needs to be killed manually) with some 10 seconds delay using all my processing power on 100%, so it's effectively killing my machine (many times i had to manually stop the whole computer) - i'm not sure what is doing, but it's very annoying, as i don't see the progress when it ends.
Is it compacting or copying does not matter - don't do that

Technically speaking the above-mentioned reasons put in the way to disable Trash - I'm not sure why there is no option for that in ubuntu with this buggy Trash functionality - which was buggy 4-5 years ago also.

I have disabled my Trash with intensive forum search - chmod 000 ~/.local/share/Trash - there is no other options as if i forgot to make shift delete, i manually need to stop my computer with the power button.

Most of the time i had to delete my Trash from command line (with not that much files i simply freezing - instead of just make some delete command - i hope it's not counting again) - rm -rf ~/.local/share/Trash/*

Suggestion:
1, Do we need to load thumbnails beneath a progress bar, every second when a bunch of file has been deleted just to freeze an i7 quad core computer with 16GB ram and 250GB SSD? - no
2, Do we need to count files going through the tree? - i'm not sure what nautilus does but the disk usage analyzer is far more faster. - my assumption is it's some sort of lock on the progressbar and the counter (threading issue), so it's not even starting.
3, Do we need to do any job while emptying the Trash with empty button or with ctrl+a and delete? - not really - please call and rm -rf, and let me work

If you use another file manager like pcmanfm2 does it delete without issue? You can make dummy data using touch if necessary

I cannot try it at the moment as i forgot what was the permissions on my Trash before i made this read only permission stuff. (disable trash) - so it's not copying to the trash, and that's why all the scenario what i mentioned might be totally invalid.
