Did you burn a CD, downloaded from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download?

You can also check the consoles for any messages: try Ctrl+Alt+F1 to Ctrl+Alt+F12 to see if there are any messages shown.

Hey Tribhuvan

Even my friend had the same problem. We reported to Ubuntu & finally we came to know that ubuntu 8.10 won't work in 845 chipset. There is some problem with the intel. But you can try ubuntu 8.04. Even that won't work properly. Even future versions of ubuntu are doubtful whether they would work in 845 chip set.

Tip: If the live session worked, then your ubuntu would have worked for sure.

Hope you found some thing useful.

For many people it seems to have helped to remove compiz from the system.
When exactly does your system freeze? Does the live CD boot regularly and do you auto-login to a desktop or does it freeze before that? Does it freeze after you click the Install button? When?
Or did the installation complete and it freezes when you try to log in?

Can you help with this problem?
